Promote with Leviathan NewsCitadel Securities president Jim Esposito told Semafor the firm is eyeing prediction markets for institutional hedging, explicitly ruling out the sports betting segment that drives most retail volume on Polymarket and Kalshi. Esposito flagged November's US midterms as "a seismic event" for investor portfolios and said event contracts could pull Citadel in as a liquidity provider. CEO Peng Zhao already has skin in the game — he personally invested in Kalshi last June — but this is the first time the market-maker arm has publicly floated entering. A Citadel commitment would bring serious Wall Street depth to a venue still dominated by retail flow.
